This November (2015) Stathams were involved with a very prestigious London event!

Abels Moving Services as one of the sponsors of the London to Brighton Vintage Car Run took part in the Saturday Regent Street Motor Show. Held this year on the 31st October 2015, this London event attracts over 400,000 visitors to the show.

The motor show takes place on Regent Street which is closed to vehicle traffic between Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus with the show open to the general public. The show is very popular, with huge numbers of motor enthusiasts visiting the show this year.

As part of the display provided by Abels , Stathams Transport helped to move some of these vehicles to the site on Regent street. Use this link to see the vehicles being offloaded – Stathams moving “Maud”

Abels displayed two vintage removal vehicles. One was an original horse drawn truck, a 37cwt drop well body removal pantechnicon. Built in 1896 (the year of the emancipation run for cars to drive without a red flag waving person in front of them) and built by Hyde and Cheshire.

The second historical vehicle was a 1941 Bedford MLD Commercial Vehicle. The Bedford MLD was a Long Wheelbase commercial vehicle, fitted with drop side. This 1941 bodied vehicle had a removal body added to it in 1951 with a 750 cubic foot box and a drop tail. In 1991 restoration of the vehicle commenced lasting over 7 years with further restoration in 2015 which included a full repaint.

Throughout the day demonstrations were provide by Abels Staff with loading and unloading various items including Pianos, grandfather clocks, barometers crated paintings and other large household goods.
